Golf Physical Therapy in Rockville Centre, NY

Stop Playing Through Pain That Keeps Coming Back.

Golfers come to Trident Physical Therapy when low back, hip, shoulder, or elbow issues keep flaring up and the same problems keep coming back. The clinic holds a TPI-M2 certification and builds programs specifically around what golfers need — grounded in how the body moves through the golf swing.

Still Pushing Through? Here Is What Happens When Golf Pain Does Not Get Addressed.

It Loosens Up After a Few Holes Until It Does Not

Starting rounds in pain and hoping it works itself out is not a strategy. It is a sign something is wrong, and playing through it repeatedly is what turns a manageable issue into a real setback.

The Same Thing Keeps Flaring Up

Rest gets you to the next round. Then it happens again. This cycle does not break on its own. The body does not get more capable of handling golf stress by just playing less.

You Are Starting to Scale Back

Fewer rounds. Lighter practice. Skipping sessions after a flare. If golf is something you want to keep doing at a real level, that is not a sustainable direction.

Common Conditions We Treat

What Golfers Come to Us Dealing With

Golf puts repetitive stress through the same movement patterns round after round. These are the issues that come up most often when that load adds up.

Low back pain during or after rounds

Hip tightness and pain limiting rotation in the swing

Shoulder pain affecting the backswing or follow-through

Elbow issues, including golfer's and tennis elbow

Wrist and forearm tightness from repetitive impact

Next-day soreness that keeps coming back after rounds

What Golfers Are Saying About Trident PT

Rated 5.0 stars on Google with 223+ reviews from athletes and active adults across Long Island.

I started working online with Matt due to some age related and post Covid recovery dysfunction. Of course, initially there was some hesitancy to start something based on Instagram marketing, but after talking with Matt I understood that he seeks a more substantive model for working with clients/patients to address areas of concern and restore them to full physical functionality. I continue to work with Matt as he is very knowledgeable, constructively responsive to physical issues, and an extremely nice and pleasant person to work with. I have since recommended Matt to several friends. He and Trident Physical Therapy have my highest recommendation.

Dr. Matt at Trident is a caring, intuitive and fun Trainer to work with. I am feeling substantially less pain in my knees and feel much stronger all over. I was depressed and hopeless a few months ago but now i’m full of energy and feel 20 years younger and healthier. Thank you Trident!!!!

I was struggling with sciatica for months before seeing Dr. Spencer. His thorough assessment and focused treatment plan relieved my symptoms. Through a combination of manual therapy and specific exercises, I’ve seen amazing progress and can finally move without pain.

Frequently Asked Questions

Questions about golf PT and what to expect come up all the time. Here are the most common ones.

Does PT actually help with golf performance, or just injuries?

Both. The three-pillar framework at Trident covers injury rehabilitation, injury prevention, and performance training. Addressing the injury is the starting point, but building the physical capacity to handle the demands of golf long-term is the actual goal. Golfers who go through the full program typically notice improvements in how they feel and how they move on the course.

I play for fun. Is this level of care overkill for a recreational golfer?

Not at all. If you want to keep playing without constantly managing pain or missing rounds because of a flare-up, this is exactly what this program is designed for. You do not have to be a competitive golfer to benefit from care that is built around what golf actually demands from the body.

I have tried massage and stretching and it only helps temporarily. What makes this different?

Massage and stretching address symptoms. A comprehensive physical therapy program addresses the underlying issue: what in your movement, strength, or mechanics is creating the stress that keeps causing the problem. When we find that and build a program around it, the relief tends to last.

What is included in the assessment?

A full movement assessment, a review of your golf swing mechanics, and a detailed conversation about your history, your symptoms, and your goals. The TPI-M2 certification means the evaluation looks at both how your body moves and how that translates to your swing, something a generalist clinic cannot offer.

Do you accept insurance?

We are cash-based. We do not bill insurance directly. HSA and FSA are accepted. Upon request, we can provide a superbill for potential out-of-network reimbursement, though we cannot make guarantees about what your specific plan will cover.
