Training for a marathon shouldn't mean choosing between your goals and your body.

But too often, runners are forced to make that choice—sidelined by pain, frustrated by setbacks, or told to "just rest" when race day is around the corner.

Your training plan is derailed
Every missed long run feels like lost progress. You're watching your race goal slip away while dealing with pain that won't quit.

Generic advice isn't cutting it
"Ice it and rest" doesn't work when you've got 12 weeks until race day. You need a plan that keeps you running—not sitting on the sidelines.

You're worried about race day
Will your knee hold up at mile 18? Can you even finish? The doubt is creeping in, and you're losing confidence in your body.

We keep marathon runners training strong—so race day is your victory, not your gamble.

At Trident Physical Therapy, we don't just treat injuries—we help you train smarter, run stronger, and stay ahead of setbacks. Whether you're dealing with runner's knee, IT band pain, or nagging tightness that won't go away, we build a strength-based plan tailored to your training cycle, your goals, and your race timeline.

You don't have to choose between staying healthy and hitting your mileage. We help you do both.

“I met Dr. Matt through a local running group where he not only ran with us but also sponsored the run. I decided to work with him for my third marathon and my first NYC Marathon build. My goal was simple: build the strength I needed to prevent injuries during the training cycle and avoid pain throughout the 26.2 miles. I’m so thankful for Dr. Matt because he helped me achieve exactly that. Two weeks post NYC Marathon, I’m still completely pain and injury-free. I 100% recommend Dr. Matt and the entire Trident family for marathon training and injury prevention.”

From training pain to race day performance—here's how we get you there.

Step 1 - We find the root cause—not just where it hurts.
In a comprehensive 60-minute evaluation, we assess your running mechanics, strength gaps, and movement patterns. You'll leave with clarity on what's causing your pain and a personalized game plan to fix it—starting on day one.

Step 2 - Your training stays on track while we fix the problem.
We build a custom rehab plan that fits your marathon training schedule. Each week, we adapt and progress your program so you're getting stronger, moving better, and staying injury-free—without sacrificing your long runs.

Step 3 -  You don't just recover—you race stronger.
Once you're pain-free, we focus on performance. You'll learn how to run smarter, build resilience, and prevent future setbacks. You'll cross that finish line confident, strong, and ready for your next PR.

We treat the injuries that sideline marathon runners—so you can keep training.

Whether you're dealing with acute pain or chronic tightness, we help runners stay on the road and off the injury list. Our performance-based approach addresses the root cause, builds strength where you need it most, and gets you back to logging miles—pain-free.
